Vaithialingam dedicated his career to serving Tamilnadu as an engineer in Highways Department and retired as a Superintending Engineer.

He is married to Papa and they have a son, Ayyappan, and two daughters, Manonmani and Anandhi.

Ayyappan, a civil engineering graduate with an MBA, is an Aircel agent.   He is married to Usha who runs a finance company.   They have two daughters Meenakshi and Visalakshi, and two sons, Venkatesa and Srinivasa. 

Manonmani who has degrees in Science and Education is married to Palani Selvam who runs a finance company.    They have two daughters, Abinaya and Priyanka, and a son Manickkam.

Anandhi, a science graduate, who is an appraiser with IOB is married to Palaniappan who runs a finance company and is also a jeweler.  They have two daughters Sondarya and Iswarya and a son Suryanarayanan.
