EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SAE INDIA(Retd)

T.R.Jagadeesan obtained his B.E.Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Annamalai University in the year 1960. He joined the College of Engineering, Guindy as a Teacher Training Program Scholar in the same year. He completed his Masters Degree in I.C.Enginnering in 1962. He was appointed as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering in1963. He was promoted as an Asst.Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the year 1966. He was deputed to do his Doctorate degree program at I.I.T., Madras under the Quality Improvement Program in 1970. He completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1973 and joined the College of Engineering Guindy. He was promoted as a P.G Professor in Mechanical Engg. in 1976. He was appointed as the Director (Principal) of the Guindy Engg.College in 1989 and became the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Dean Students Main Campus of Anna University in 1994. He was appointed as the Director of the Center for Automotive Research and Training during April 1997.  He retired as Dean, Anna University on 31/12/1997. During his 37 years of teaching, research, and consultancy experience he has guided a number of MS and Ph.D. scholars. He has over 90 research papers in journals and conferences to his credit. He has traveled widely to U.S.A., U.K., Canada, Spain, Brazil, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Bulgaria. He has been associated with a number of professional societies. He was the immediate past National President and a Fellow of the Institution of Automobile Engineers (India). He is an active member of SAE International and its consultant in India. He is the Founder Chairman of the Quality Circle Forum of India, Chennai Chapter. He is a Fellow of the Tamil Nadu Academy of Sciences. He is the first person to be elected as a Fellow of SAE International USA from India. He is a life member of the Combustion Institute and I.S.T.E. He received the TAMILNADU SCIENTIST AWARD for 2002.  His fields of interest are:                  

1. 1.Alternative Sources of Energy.
   

2. 2.Control of Emissions from Combustion Engines.
   

3. 3.Educational Administration and Improving the Quality and Standards in Education.
   

He is happily married to Lakshmi Devi who is writer in Tamil with 7 books to her credit.  They have two daughters and a son all happily married and well settled. Their joy of life of course are the five grand children Two Grand sons and three grand daughters.
